Take a quick run over to Halfway rock, inside Casco Bay and see seals frolic is the clear waters. observe mothers and pups basking on the rocks. The more adventurous can try our four-hour seal tour to the Minke Rocks seal colony including a picnic lunch stop at Admiral Perry's Eagle Island.
Tour the former turn-of-the-century resort community on Little Chebeague Island. Walk among the old cottage ruins and beachcomb on the back shore. Be sure to bring your swimsuits. Call ahead and book and we can have a box lunches for your picnic!
History buffs will delight in stretching their legs on Fort Gorges, the Northeast's very own Citadel fort. Built in 1858, the cut granite fort was built in the same style as its more famous southern cousin. Take a view from one of the numerous gun turrets or climb the three story structure and take in the spectacular 360-degree view of the city. Explorers should bring a flashlight.
If you are looking for an all-day affair consider a trip to the infamous Jewell Island. Join the thousands of visitors who have tried their luck searching out RedBeard's buried booty! Or check out the view from the WW2 sub tower on the southern end of the island. Remember to pack additional clothes as conditions on Casco bay's outer islands can change quickly.
Naturalists can take advantage of our inner and outer birdwatching excursions. Protected water you can expect to see varities of gulls, terns and eiders, with the chance of seeing pintails and mergansers and cormorants. Offshore trips there's the likelihood of seeing gannets, dovekies, murres and shearwaters.
